On slowness

Slowness isn't doing less, but giving each thing enough time to become itself.

I used to think slowness was a luxury. Now I think it’s a discipline.

Slowness doesn’t mean doing less. It means giving one thing enough time to reveal its true shape — the way tea needs time to steep, the way a friendship needs many returns.

The hardest part of slowness is bearing the feeling that you’re missing out. But perhaps missing out is exactly the price of being fully present in one place.
